The Metropolitan Opera ends its Summer Encore series as it brings Puccini’s Tosca to theatres on Wednesday, August 4, 2021.
“Tosca” is one of the most riveting works in the operatic repertoire. This musical thriller of love, lust, politics, and murder follows the jealous diva Tosca and her lover Cavaradossi, a painter whose revolutionary ideals lead them both into tragedy.

The Met Live in HD Encore: Puccini’s Tosca
The Metropolitan Opera suspended their live performances and Live in HD cinema series when the Coronavirus pandemic hit in 2020. In place of live performances, The Met showcased past productions with encore showings in many theatres and with free streaming to home viewers.
With live performances scheduled to resume in September, The Met ended its free streaming series on July 26, 2021, and now the encore theatrical showings are coming to an end.
