Christopher Plummer, best known as Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music, died Friday at age 91.
Julie Andrews, Plummer’s co-star from The Sound of Music, said Plummer had been a cherished friend.
“I didn’t want to have anything to do with it,” Plummer admitted in a 2015 interview before the showing of the film at its 50th anniversary. Later, though, he said he recognized the value of the film and now “the memories are precious.”
Below is the interview with Plummer and Andrews at the 2015 Turner Classic Movies film festival.
Plummer began working as an actor in the 1950s and continued until his death. Among his later roles were Scrooge in The Man Who Invented Christmas (2017) and a murder victim in Knives Out (2019).
