A Bolshoi Ballet performance of Swan Lake, scheduled to be shown in many theatres on Sunday, March 6, 2022, has been canceled due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“In consideration of the current escalating events in Ukraine, Fathom Events, by experience, and its US exhibition partners have decided to cancel the upcoming series with the Bolshoi Ballet,” Fathom Events, sponsor of the series, announced.
“Fathom Events will continue to support the arts and while we believe they should remain separate from politics, in support of the people of Ukraine, we’re cancelling the upcoming Bolshoi Ballet events, SwanLake on March 6th and the Pharaoh’s Daughter on May 1st.
“If you already purchased tickets, please contact the ticketing provider’s customer service department to learn about their refund policy.”
The performance, originally staged on February 23, 2020, was to be broadcast from Moscow. It is the latest in the series, “Bolshoi Ballet in Cinema.” The ballet series is sponsored Fathom Events, which distributes classic films and more performances to nearly 2,000 theatres.
