This March, HBO Max has two returning series plus some new additions to its huge movie library that will interest seniors.
Perry Mason Season 2 – March 6
On March 6, Matthew Rhys returns for a new season of Perry Mason, a modern take on the courtroom drama made famous by author Erle Stanley Gardner starting in 1933, and by the TV series that ran from 1957 to 1966.
Also returning are Della Street (Juliet Rylance), cop-turned-investigator Paul Drake (Chris Chalk), and prosecutor Hamiton Burger (Justin Kirk).
In Season 2, Perry, now a full-fledged lawyer, is back in seedy 1930s Los Angeles and his clients include a ruthless, ambitious grocery store owner (Sean Astin) in civil court and dealing with a murder case involving Mexican-American brothers Mateo (Peter Mendoza) and Rafael (Fabrizio Guido), plus local philanthropist Brooks McCutcheon (Tommy Dewey).
IMDB Rating – There are no IMDB ratings yet for Perry Mason Season 2 but Season 1 got a 7.5 rating on IMDB.
A typical IMDB review of Perry Mason Season 1 was: “This isn’t your parents’ Perry Mason … and I’m not disappointed. I’m all for providing an old story an origin, and this production gives you just that and does it very well. And, boy, is it gritty, dusty, smoky, and boozy. It is not for the weak-stomached. Keep in mind that this is an old story being told in today’s voice. The Perry Mason of the 60’s is an interpretation of his character for television audience of that decade, produced for family network TV, while the HBO version is for an audience that expects what HBO is capable of delivering.”

Succession Season 4 – March 26
On March 26, the HBO series Succession returns for its fourth and final season.
The sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson moves ever closer. The prospect of this seismic sale provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is complete. A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.
Veteran actor Brian Cox returns as the ruthless family patriarch and his four onscreen children will also return for season four, along with stars Matthew Macfadyen, Nicholas Braun, J. Smith-Cameron, Peter Friedman, David Rasche, Fisher Stevens, Hiam Abbass, Justine Lupe, Scott Nicholson, Zoë Winters, and Jeannie Berlin.
IMDB Rating – There are no IMDB ratings yet for Succession Season 4 but Season 1 got an 8.8 rating on IMDB.
A typical IMDB review of previous seasons of Succession was: “It truly feels like you get a behind the scenes look of a multi Billion dollar company and how cut throat the business world is … It may start off slow, but the show does evolve into a multi dimensional story. It tells the tale of not just a family and their turmoil at the top, but also the path of destruction of people in their way. They stop at nothing to protect the family and power they’ve “worked” to gain.”
